2011 FUNDRAISING NEWS!....

On June 17th we rasied a hige £419.14 for Speakability selling new and nearly new items at York Districty hospital foyer. Look out for us at our next stall - THURSDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER.

Our lovely fundraiser Michelle Ruddock undertook the YORKSHIRE THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE in June to raise money for aphasia software to help people with their speech and language at home. She did fantastically well and is still collecting sponsers - if you would like to sponser her please email the fundraising team!

Michelle Ruddock and volunteer Clare Potts will be running the YORK 10K on SUNDAY 31ST JULY to raise money and awareness for Speakability - if you would like to sponsor them please contact ceh500@googlemail.com or our fundraising team!

NEWS FROM 2010:
In June York Speakability had a busy month of fundraising and spreading awareness of Aphasia and Speakability. All our event sraised a total of £300, £150 of which we are sending to the Speakability head office to support Speakability nationwide. Thanks to everyone who helped to make Aphasia Awareness Month such a success! 
Thanks to our fantastic fundraising team , members and helpers, we've had a busy and successful summer of fundriasing and raising awareness for Speakability.....

On Sunday 4th July we had a fantastic day at the Helperby Open Gardens and Village Fayre. We raised £226.00 on our tombola stall!! A big thank you to all of the helpers once again who helped to make it all possible.

On Saturday 1st May we had a TOMBOLA at Hovingham and had a fantastic day, raising money and spreading the word about York Speakability.

On Monday 7th June we spent the day raising awareness at the Spurriergate Centre in York. We raised money and spread the word about Speakability and Aphasia for APHASIA AWARENESS MONTH!
- On Thursday 17th June we had a brilliant day at our 4X yearly table top sale at York Hospital and raised a huge £300!! A huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped to make it such a successful and enjoyable day. A huge thank you goes out to all our volunteers, and for the support we got from the York Speech & Language Therapy Department. We are looking forward to our next table top sale on Thursday 16th September.
We will be having four table-top sales at the York District Hospital in 2010.
The stall will be open for sales from 9am - 4pm!
If you have any unwanted gifts, games, clothes or good quality bric-a-brac that you would like to donate to this worthy cause, then please get in touch with our fundraising team!

NEWS FROM 2009
2009 was a very successful year for fundraising and aphasia awareness promotion for York Speakability.
The group were involved in a number of activities, including:
- The York 10k: raising £750 and spreading the word of Speakability.
- Four table top sales at York District Hospital, raising hundreds of pounds.
- Numerous tombolas, stalls, and stands at Springhill Court, Easingwold.

In APHASIA AWARENESS MONETH in June the group raised awareness of picture-based menus at the Spurriergate Centre in York. Speakability was involved in a nation-wide promotion of aphasia-friendly menu facilities. Read more about this worthy campaign here!
NEWS FROM 2008
2008 was a busy year for fundraising at York Speakability.

In December we held a table top sale and tombola in Easingwold. Here's Fundrasier Gill Carter's account of the day:
"what can I say about the weather but how awful! fortunately the local people, Ann,Sue,Mike and I were able to get there through the snow! We managed to raise 140.00 - a big thank you to all"

In June one of our volunteers Clare Hargreaves undertook the Lyke Wake Walk to raise money for York Speakability. The Lyke Wake Walk is a 40mile hike across North Yorkshire, which has to be competed in under 24 hours! Everybody worked together to raise sponsor money for the event, and a huge £1, 500 was raised!!
